FIS Congratulates LAUSD Superintendent Andrés Chait
Families In Schools (FIS) extends our heartfelt congratulations to Andrés Chait on his appointment as Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Leading the nation’s second-largest school district is both an extraordinary opportunity and an immense responsibility. At a time when our students, families, and educators are navigating complex challenges, strong leadership matters more than ever. Superintendent Chait brings to this role a deep understanding of LAUSD’s students, families, schools, and communities, developed through years of service to the district. We are confident that his experience, commitment to students, and dedication to public education will serve LAUSD well in the years ahead.
We also recognize and celebrate the significant progress LAUSD has made in recent years to improve student outcomes. Under the leadership of former Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, the district established a strong foundation through its focus on student achievement, innovation, and opportunity. That progress demonstrates what is possible when educators, families, community partners, and district leaders work together toward a common goal. We are optimistic that Superintendent Chait will build upon this momentum and continue advancing efforts to improve outcomes for all students.
For more than 25 years, Families In Schools has partnered with parents, educators, school districts, and community leaders to ensure that all children have the opportunity to succeed in school and in life. We have long valued our partnership with LAUSD and look forward to working closely with Superintendent Chait and his team to strengthen family engagement, elevate parent voice, and accelerate early literacy and student achievement across the district.
Families are children’s first teachers and lifelong advocates. When schools and families work together as true partners, students benefit. We are eager to collaborate with district leadership to ensure that every family feels welcomed, informed, and empowered to support their children’s success and to help advance a shared vision of educational excellence and opportunity for all students.
As Superintendent Chait begins this new chapter of leadership, we offer our best wishes and our commitment to partnership. Together, we can continue building an education system that prepares every student to thrive and that recognizes the essential role families play in making that vision a reality.
Congratulations, Superintendent Chait. We look forward to working with you on behalf of Los Angeles students and families.
